Wyatt, the article is very well argued. I really enjoyed reading it.

Grateful for the article.

How do you reconcile:

"one cannot locate inseparable operations in a body"

with texts like 1 Cor 6.19, "do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you"

and texts like Gal 1.16 "he was pleased to reveal his son in me"

Great question! Augustine means that God’s divine activity is seen in material acts but he remains invisible to our eyes. So that’s what he means by body here. We see the effects of God’s invisible activity through the external acts within the created order

Thanks. Very illuminating. Is this theological principle the same as mutuality? Also, do you have any recommended resources that unpack this aspect of Trinitarian theology? I'm doing a dissertation on the way that mutuality and sending within the Trinity are reflected in Paul’s apostolic praxis. Thanks...

Good Morning,

I am working on a paper for Dr. Presley’s class @ SBTS and am focusing on the culmination of his relationship with his mother in Book 9 of Confessions. I’ve done some digging around at New Advent and Villanova. If there is anywhere else I should look, your thoughts would be welcome. Thank you for your awesome content! Blessings!

You can see Dr. Ian Clary and my reflections on this in our Into Theology podcast as a starting place. I think Lewis Ayres talks about it a bit in his Augustine and the Trinity book too.
