Thanks for the review. One additional thought. You mention Paul’s ‘mystery’, as the transformative work of the spirit in the lives of individual believers, but as I understand it, that reference is about much more than that. It is about revealing and implementing the ‘administration of the mystery’ as the specific calling or stewardship Jesus gave Paul. The word oikonomos literally means house law. What Paul is saying is that Jesus specifically commissioned him to reveal and implement “Christs grand strategy” for the new household He is building. When this concept is understood, it broadens the Pauline perspective and calling in a way that make more sense across his letters and the entire New Testament. It allows us to understand Paul, as Wright says, as a cohesive a thinker/writer who was given the job of establishing an empire-wide network of churches (along with the other apostles) and shaping those churches for expansion and for passing on the deposit of theses things from one generation to the next.
